Our set comprised of the following pieces:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Lymington Quay<\/strong>, by Tony Kitcherside<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Serenade<\/strong>, by Derek Bourgeois<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Vicennial Celebration<\/strong>, by Karl D. Whelan<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The competition was held in the main Pavilion &#8211; an absolutely wonderful venue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In addition to the Mold Town Concert Band, the other two competitors were <strong>The Chester Big Band<\/strong> and <strong>Band Pres H\u0177n Gwasanaeth Cerdd Ysgol<\/strong>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Band Pres H\u0177n Gwasanaeth Cerdd Ysgol<\/strong> took first place with a very tight performance, including a wonderful flugelhorn solo played by one of their young players in their second piece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Mold Town Concert Band<\/strong> and <strong>Chester Big Band<\/strong> came joint second.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Many thanks to Alan Milnes, our music director for selecting the programme and preparing us for the event, and to the Llangollen Eisteddfod for staging this competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1409\" height=\"1797\" src=\"https:\/\/moldtownband.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/EisteddfodCertificate-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-239\" srcset=\"https:\/\/moldtownband.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/EisteddfodCertificate-1.jpg 1409w, https:\/\/moldtownband.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/EisteddfodCertificate-1-235x300.jpg 235w, https:\/\/moldtownband.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/EisteddfodCertificate-1-768x979.jpg 768w, https:\/\/moldtownband.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/07\/EisteddfodCertificate-1-1204x1536.jpg 1204w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1409px) 100vw, 1409px\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On the 12th July 2025, we participated in the E2 Community Bands competition in the International Eisteddfod in Llangollen.
